Supervised Parenting Services
Program Description
Our Supervised Parenting Program is accredited and is a member of the Supervised Visitation Network (SVN). We provide a safe, comfortable environment for parents and their children to interact and play. The program offers four different types of services:
- Center-Based Supervised Parenting is for persons seeking parenting time with their child who are required to do so within the presence of a neutral third party. These sessions are typically two hours in length, but can be more or less if needed, and are in a shared environment with other families. One-on-one supervision is possible depending on staff and program availability. Sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00-8:00pm; Saturdays between 9:30am-4:00pm; and Sundays between 11:45am-4:00pm.
- Monitored Parenting is for persons transitioning from supervised parenting who are not required to have a supervisor present at all times during the visit. Supervisors check in with the family several times during the session and document at each check in. These sessions are typically two hours in length, but can be more or less if needed, and may occur in a group setting. Sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00-8:00pm; Saturdays between 9:30am-4:00pm; and Sundays between 11:45am-4:00pm.
- Monitored Exchanges are for families seeking to transfer their child from one parent to the other without the parents having contact with each other. Monitored exchanges are supervised and performed by staff. Staff briefly document on each exchange. Exchanges are performed seven days a week during programming hours.
- Off-site Supervised Parenting is for families seeking parenting time with their child outside of Genesis II premises. Off-site Supervision is currently only available to clients referred by Hennepin County Child Protection Services. Off-site Supervised Parenting is available Monday through Friday between 8:00am-8:00pm.
