In the Spotlight!

Genesis II cheers the Saints on to Victory!!!

Thank you to everyone who joined Genesis II for Families at the Saint Paul Saints game!  By the fifth inning, the Sioux Falls Canaries were ahead of the Saints 3-1.  However, the arrival of Alex Hermida and the Independent Living Skills cheering squad in the next inning helped to dramatically shift momentum of the entire game.  The Saints proceeded to rattle off eleven unanswered runs, creating an insurmountable deficit for the Canaries, and securing victory.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make the Saints game a fun and memorable night!

Campaign to Honor Mothers

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Mother’s Day campaign a success!!!  Your donations are helping Genesis II for Families to provide support for struggling mothers.

Missed out on a great opportunity?

Although mother’s day has passed, you can still make a donation on behalf of your mother.  Just go to our “donate” page and make sure that you fill in the fields indicating that this donation is for your mother.  If you include her address, we’ll still make sure that your mother receives an acknowledgment card.

Sneak Peek at our Annual Stats

Curious about who we served and how they fared in 2008 and can’t wait to get our annual report?  Here’s a sneak peek:

We served over 1,600 individuals (approximately 600 families) in 2008.  Sixty-nine percent of those served were people of color; 31% were Caucasian.  Eighty-one percent of children served reached age-appropriate developmental levels.  Eighty-three percent of parents served improved their parenting.  Over half of the families who entered our programs without custody of their children were reunified as a family again.

We strive to support families and provide them with the opportunities and information they need to become better parents and individuals.  We look forward to continued partnerships with families throughout 2009!
